Council on Wage and Price Stability to Study Coal Prices

Albert Rees, Director of the Council on Wage and Price Stability announced today that the Council staff will undertake a study of coal prices. The price of bituminous coal has risen nearly 80% over the past 2 years. Mr. Rees said “Many Americans are puzzled and concerned about these increases. We think that a study of this issue will help all of us unders tand why the price of coal has been rising.” The Council staff has also hired a consultant, Dr. Rush Greenslade, to provide expert assistance for the study.
