Staff Report on Aluminum Price Hearings

On July 3, 1975, the Council on Wage and Price Stability requested a 30-day delay in the effective date of price increases announced by major aluminum producers which were, for the most part, to have been effective July 7. All the producers concerned promptly agreed to the delay requested. Since July 3, the Council staff has examined statistical data submitted by the aluminum producers and has held public hearings at which testimony was heard from major integrated aluminum producers, aluminum fabricators, academic economists, and other interested parties. The purpose of this report is to announce the findings of this investigation.
