The following is a statement by Acting Council Director George Eads:

The price increases announced today by the General Motors Corporation (GM) are less than some observers had been predicting. Our calculations based on data supplied to us by GM indicate that the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the base GM car equipped with the average amount of optional equipment will rise by about 4.7 percent and the wholesale price to the dealer for that same car will rise by 5.8 percent…
