The Council on Wage and Price Stability today criticized AMTRAK’s proposed criteria for deciding which passenger routes it should subsidize and which ones it should discontinue. The Council said that if the criteria were to be put into effect as proposed, they could very well work to increase the costs of passenger transportation– which would be inflationary– and to worsen AMTRAK’s rapidly increasing operating losses…
