The Council on Wage and Price Stability today urged that the Department of Energy reject recommendations of two Administrative Law Judges regarding the pricing of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Algeria. The Administrative Law Judges recommended that the LNG, which would be more than twice as expensive as gas now sold in the United States, be averaged in with the price of all other gas. This procedure appears to lower the direct cost of LNG. But it would hide the true cost from consumers.
