Before the Interstate Commerce Commission: Modified Terms and Conditions for Approval of Collective Ratemaking Agreements Under Section 5a of the Interstate Commerce Act

The Council on Wage and Price Stability today urged the Interstate Commerce Commission to go further than it now proposes in limiting the anti-trust exemption currently enjoyed by the motor carrier, water carrier and freight forwarder industries. Collective ratemaking agreements approved by the ICC currently permit these industries to jointly determine thier rates without being in violation of the relevant anti-trust laws. According to the Council, this anti-trust exemption is inflationary.
