Mr. Chairman and members of the Committee, I welcome the opportunity to talk with you today about the anti-inflation program and the role of the Council on Wage and Price Stability. Much has happened since I appeared before you last on June 21. The President has announced a broad new program designed to bring inflation under control. It combines fiscal a monetary restraint with voluntary price and pay standards. It provides as well for actions in the area of regulation to ensure that the Federal government does all it can to minimize the co and improve the efficiency of regulations.
