ALTERNATIVE SYSTEMS FOR ALLOCATING AIR QUALITY — THE PREVENTION OF SIGNIFICANT DETERIORATION

The Council on Wage and Price Stability today released a Staff Paper on the potential use of economic incentives in regulatory efforts to achieve cost savings in the control of air pollution. This Staff Paper, entitled “Alternative Systems for Allocating Air Quality the Prevention of Significant Deterioration,” was prepared by Bruce Yandle during his term as a Senior Economist in the Council’s Office of Government Programs and Regulations.  Yandle is now Professor of Economics at Clemson University.  A copy of the Staff Paper is attached.
