On October 26, 1979, the Council on Wage and Price Stability (Council) submitted comments to the Department of
Energy’s Office of Hearings and Appeals opposing the application of Union oil Company (Union) for exception relief. At a hearing on October 29, Union discussed some of the Council’s comments, and on November 9 Mr. Richard Tedrow, Deputy Director of the Office of Hearings and Appeals, sent the Council a letter (attached) inviting further comments on several points. In this supplementary filing the Council elaborates on the points raised in Mr. Tedrow’s letter and responds to certain statements made by Union at the hearing and in its submissions. This filing does not address all points raised by Union at the hearing and in its submissions, since the Council discussed many of those points in its original comments.
