The Council on Wage and Stability has announced it favors lifting restrictions on the marketing of reconstituted milk. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is considering proposals to lift or modify current federal regulations that
make selling reconstituted milk products uneconomical, and the Council has strongly urged a public hearing to address these proposals.  Abolishing current restrictions on reconstituted milk products would provide consumers with a lower-cost alternative to fresh milk. These changes would also result in a more efficient use of our nation’s economic resources, without disrupting the orderly marketing of milk.  A copy of the Council’s statement is attached.
